Advent with the Magi:
Noticing God’s Presence
in our Spiritual Journeys
A Stillness Collective Advent Retreat
at Magnolia Cottage
in Lancaster, PA
We would love for you to join us for
An Advent Retreat in the countryside of
Lancaster, PA
December 13 - 15, 2024
The journey the Magi undertake towards Jesus birthday is much like journey we all take closer and closer towards Jesus over the course of our lifetimes. We see the signs of Jesus inviting us to follow; we move in his direction; we encounter obstacles and opposition and have to decide if we will keep the faith. Although our journey is long and won’t be complete while we are in our human frames, God’s presence is always with us.
Through Scripture reading, Lectio Divina, and time for silence and personal reflection, we will invite God to speak his truth into our lives and notice God’s presence through each stage of our spiritual journeys.
We will be heading to the countryside in Lancaster, PA to Magnolia Cottage, which overlooks 70+ acres of preserved farmland. There is space to rest and restore on long walks through farmland or sitting on the wraparound porch surrounded by rolling hills.
Our search for union with God is lifelong, often a strenuous trek punctuated by dark passages. If we are to persevere, we must take courage in God’s abiding presence all along the way. Even as we are traveling toward God as destiny, Emmanuel is already with us in manifold ways.

This retreat is for you if
-
You feel drawn to a time of silence, solitude, stillness and natural beauty in the midst of a busy holiday time.
-
You yearn for a deeper awareness and experience of God's presence at Advent and in all your life.
-
You want to journey closer towards Jesus as he also draws near to you this Christmas season.
In our Advent retreat, as we mark the coming of Emmanuel who is always with us, we will follow along with the Magi as they first discern Jesus’ coming in the stars, go on their long journey to Bethlehem, encounter (and counter) the threat of Herod, and make their trip home. We will journey with them in five stages, noticing God’s presence through each stage of our spiritual journeys.
Stage 1: Seeing the Signs
Stage 2: Following the Star
Stage 3: The Joyous Encounter
