Awaiting Christ’s Birth: God Breaking into a Broken World
An Advent Retreat
Join us in NYC

The light shines in the darkness and the darkness will not overcome it. John 1:5
Advent is a season of mystery and longing. As the days grow colder and darker and the world often seems ever closer to the knife-edge of destruction and despair, we turn our faces towards the coming dawn: Jesus, light of nations, God’s gift of healing to a broken world.

The people who walk in darkness
will see a great light.
For those who live in a land of deep darkness
a light will shine.
Isaiah 9:1-2; Matthew 4:16

This December, we are invited to enter into the suffering of the world from a place of hope - to look towards Jesus’ long-awaited arrival, with its promise to disrupt the powers of darkness.
Join the Stillness Collective in a time of quiet reflection, live ambient music, and immersion in Scripture and prayer as we contemplate the wonder of Christ’s birth. What did it mean then for people living in darkness to behold a great light? And what does it mean for us today? How does God offer to hold each of us as we hold together the “already, but not yet” in our everyday lives?

The Stillness Collective
The event will be hosted by Janine Rohrer and Carrie Myers, two experienced spiritual directors and ministry leaders, with live music provided by musician and composer David Buchs, also an experienced director and ministry leader.
